The R & B/ Soul project consists of seven songs that run for the duration of twenty-seven minutes and thirty-two seconds exactly. The production is up tempo yet smooth allowing RyaN the opportunity to create a uniquely creative story line for his audiences. “Regaining My Weight” A Jay DaSkreet Track

On July 3, 2018 the Chicago born, Mississippi raised lyrical veteran Jay DaSkreet released his latest single, “Regaining My Weight”.  Now, we all know the summer isn’t the time to start talking about adding on extra pounds, but the vibe Jay has created with this track will have you invested in the idea whole-heartedly. With production by Preacha Tim and no feature, the track is mixed and mastered by Fridae Blaque at Blaquewood Studios. With a greater appreciation for Southern culture and cuisine, Jay has taken the love of food and need for weight gain and put a very interesting spin on a tale filled with double entendre and urban vocabulary.

Deeply rooted in Southern culture is the love and appreciation of good food, family values, and  unique circumstances for growth. Jay has a creative ideology and uses it along with metaphoric structures to discuss his present state of mine. This is done while using symbolic references to the gains and growth of a hearty appetite, more subliminal than not.  Now, with all this talk about food and weight gain, I don’t want you guys to think this track is literally about food. Jay provides a solid four minutes and six seconds of thought-provoking content paired with a sound that is easy to vibe with.

We have all had a moment of self-evaluation, where we realize our short comings. We reflect on what we have done in comparison to what we need to be doing for personal growth and well-being. Well, this is the track that puts Jay’s moments on blast as he takes listeners on a journey through his life this past year or so. He states, “I took a year and supported my guys, they did it really big, now i’m gonna eat til I bust at the side, imma go piggalet.”  With puns, symbolism, metaphors, and creative vision, Jay creates a new lingo in regards to food, weight gain, growth, promise, perspective and sacrifice. “People see your food, and start watching your waist, and get mad at you for not feeding them off of your plate? Pardon my appetite.” The track is filled with lyrical gems, personal perspective, storytelling and vibes! Take a moment and check it out using the link provided below. Also, follow Jay DaSkreet and his movement on social media via Instagram @Daskreet.

“The Idea” A DQ Rogers Visual

New Orleans native, DQ Rogers has recently released a new single entitled “The Idea”. The track is produced by knpstrct, a local, rising engineer with a unique sound. I received an exclusive look at the visual that accompanies the single about two weeks ago. Filmed and directed by 38 Visuals, the short film ties in a very interesting concept in regards to the lyrical verses it is coupled with. It truly is an idea, from the visual itself to the single that inspired it, DQ has created a piece that is sure to make you think and move as you take the time to pay attention to the small details hidden within the imagery.

Screenshot_20180622-113203The video opens up with a scene introducing a young boy who seems to represent DQ’s younger self; if not, it is a young boy that is being influenced the way that most kids are today, by the media. As the young boy looks on to his television, DQ is moving around through what most children would see as the perfect day, playing games and relaxing in an arcade setting. From there, reality sets in, or the idea of it, as he arrives in a rural city area, doing more grown up things as graffiti and gambling have a brief role coming into the first verse.

Screenshot_20180622-113156Now, as DQ lays out his verses, he is strategically placed in front of a mural with historical figures and references to the African- American culture. Without any gimmicks, the visual uses the simplicity of comparisons and reality to draw viewers in with bold colors and familiar views. In addition, the simplicity he uses makes it easier to focus on what he is actually talking about in his Kendrick Lamar style verses (Non stop bars with little breath taken). In closing, the young boy his approached by his motherly figure as she takes the remote control and turns off the television. As children, we all experienced that adult figure that didn’t allow us to indulge in certain things whether they actually understood it or not. The closing of this visual is no different. As simple as the video is, it has many powerful underlying factors that are directly placed in the forefront for audiences to gravitate to, relate through, and understand.

“Poverty” a B-Thone visual

On June 21, 2018, Real Profit Entertainment artist B-Thone of Donaldsonville released a new visual for his latest single entitled “Poverty” exclusively on Tha Antidote.com . I received an exclusive look at the visual about a month ago and have been sitting on my comments ever since. With production from rising Baton Rouge native Chen, a feature from Real Profit artist Bullet Jones, and a creative look into reality, the visual was captured and directed by Joemexaking.

The visual takes place in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. Each scene creates a direct reality where the lyrics that are incorporated within the song itself are concerned. Taking viewers on a simple yet powerful journey throughout the city he grew up in, B-Thone is creating a moment where he exposes the truth about the poverty-stricken areas that plague the African-American and low-income communities.

As the video begins, Joemexaking surveys the city from the air, this is important because it invests in the ideal and understanding that poverty within this area is in the mass majority rather than a selected area for show. B-Thone and Bullet Jones wander throughout the city showing a first hand account of the daily life and circumstances of the individuals that are in the perplexing situations that most of Americans are unaware or unsympathetic to.

All in all, the piece is well executed and takes a very serious look into the phenomenon known to many as poverty. With a true understanding, the visual as well as the song shines insight on the battles and hardships that are involved with escaping the ideals and occurrences of poverty all together. Follow all the participating parties via Instagram @realprofitent , @bryanhathorn, @iambulletjones, @mynameis_chen, & @joemexaking. Take a moment to few the video via YouTube to gain your own opinion of the visual, links provided below. Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below or on the site you choose to experience it on.

Steib Design Photography

pic24On May 20, 2018 I prepared myself for a photo-shoot that was not exactly my normal shoot. Getting myself prepared for a glamorous maternity shoot was a bit nerve-racking. Let’s just say finding out I would be bringing another beautiful daughter into the world was a bit of a surprise. In addition, most women don’t feel their most beautiful when they are sharing their bodies with feisty little ones. Well anyway, I packed a bag with several outfits and spent two hours straightening my naturally curly hair for the special occasion. As time approached, I grabbed my cousin and headed out the door to meet the Steib Design Photography team at their studio here in Baton Rouge.

Let’s back up just a little, I met Jamal Steib while conducting an interview with Tha Antidote.com. It just so happened that his team was taking some glamor shots across the way. We took a moment chatting and exchanged information for future business opportunities. It is definitely safe to say that I am so thrilled that we did! Over a few weeks we were in contact and set up the day and time for my maternity shoot. Within that week, I was exposed to the timelines and professionalism of the team overall. They sent detailed emails with vital information that actually helped ease my anxiety and spark my excitement.

pic22

Jamal & Khrystina Steib

Now, lets speed forward, as I arrived at the studio, my heart sank and my stomach fluttered as Jamal met me at the door. Nerves always get to me the first ten minutes of any task. I was introduced to the team’s photographer and leading lady Khrystina Steib as well as the head make-up artist, Kee of Keekskosmetix. Both ladies made me feel like family as we chatted and caught up on a little random girl talk. Kee was very patient, and all around wonderful as we discussed a natural look that was not heavy or over powering. She was patient and managed to slay me to the Gods without using a lick of foundation. She has a skill that many artists take years to master! It was a very enlightening and exciting experience.

pic23

Kee of Keekskosmetix

Taking a moment to comb down my hair and prepare to shoot, the nerves we no longer present as I felt as though I’d known the team for years! As we started to shoot, Khrystina worked the lens as her husband managed the lighting and props. With beautiful natural shots and a few outfit changes, I found my way into my comfort zone. As laughter, creativity, and good energy filled the air around us, the shoot came to a close. The passion, personality, heart, and spirit of this team is one that deserves much recognition. Taking a look at some images captured behind the scenes, I was certain that I would be in love with the edited images to come.

Within a few days, a few edits were sent to me and I am in love what we were able to create. This team shows grace, elegance, professionalism, and passion as they make any and every occasion special. They not only specialize in photography, but videography as well. Make sure you take a moment and see what they have to offer as they are truly a step beyond your normal artist! This powerful team is sure to achieve greatness as they allow their passion to lead their creativity and work ethic. I am humbled by the opportunity to work with them and am hopeful to receive the opportunity again in the future. The track speaks about the things that Sean has seen and what he feels in regards to his home region and culture. He also takes the time to encourage his fans to share his music with those who have yet to exposed to it. Using double entendre listeners are allowed to connect with some of the artists and movies that influenced Sean growing up. He combines a series of punch lines focusing on “House Party” and its most iconic characters.
